A 52 cards standard deck is required(Without Jokers). Any number of players between 2 to 8 can play this game together.
The Object in Slapjack
The main object in Slapjack is to collect all the 52 cards by slapping the jack first.
Determining the Dealer and Dealing the Cards
There are no specific rules for determining the dealer. The players can select the dealer randomly. After that, the dealer deals 1 card per player, starting from his left, clockwise. The dealer continues this until all the cards are dealt with. But, remember all the players must get the same number of cards.
After the cards are dealt, all players make a pile from those cards and keep it in the hands. The players can’t see their cards. One who is trying to see his cards or anyone else’s cards is declared as a cheater.
How to Play Slapjack
The player on the left of the dealer starts the game by placing one card, face-up in the center of the table, from his pile. Other players take their turns subsequently by also placing one card, face-up in the center of the table, in a clockwise manner. This play continues until a player plays Jack(J).
Whenever a player plays a jack, all the other players try to slap the jack as soon as possible. The one who slaps the jack first wins that pile and mixes all those cards with his own. After that, he places a new card from his pile to start the game again.
The player who collects all the 52 cards wins the game.
Rules of Slapjack:
- When two or more players slap at a jack at the same time then the one who has more part of the jack underneath his hand wins the pile.
- If a player slaps a card other than a jack then he has to give one card, face-down to the player who played that card.
- A player who has no cards to play still remains in the game till the next jack is played. If the player slaps that jack first and wins that pile, then he can continue otherwise he will be out of the game.
- If a player has no cards and slaps a card other than the jack then he will be out of the game.
