Important Information about War Card Game
What are the requirements to War?
A standard 52 card deck is required. It is best played with 2 players but can be also played with 3 or 4 players. So, at least 2 players are required.
The ranking order of cards in War
The rank of the cards from Highest to Lowest is Ace(A), King(K), Queen(Q), Jack(J), 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2.
The Object in War Card Game
The main objective in War card game is to win all the 52 cards.
2 Player Version of War
Dealing The Cards
There are no rules for determining the dealer. Any player can be the dealer and deal the cards. The dealer deals 26 cards to each player, face-down. Then the players make a pile out of those cards and place it on the front, face-down.
How to Play War with 2 Players
Each player draws a card from his pile and turns it face-up. The player with the higher ranking card wins both the cards and places it at the bottom of his pile, face-down. And the game continues this way.
During the game, if both players turns-up the card of the same rank, it is War. In this war situation, both players draw one card from the top of their own piles and place it face-down in the center. Then, they draw another card from the top of their piles and place it face-up in the center. The player with the highest-ranked face-up card wins all 6 cards.
If the cards drawn are also of the same rank then the players draw another card from the top of their piles and place it face-down in the center. And after that, they draw another card from their own piles and place it face-up in the center. The player with the highest-ranked card wins all 10 cards.
The game ends when a player wins all 52 cards.
3 or 4 Player Version of War
Dealing The Cards
The dealer deals 17 cards to each player for 3 player game and 13 cards to each player for 4 player game.
How to Play War with 3 or 4 Players
The gameplay is the same as mentioned above. When 2 or more players have the same ranked cards, it is War. In this situation, all players draw one card from their own piles and place it face-down in the center. Then, draw another card and place it face-up in the center. The one with the highest-ranked face-up card wins all the cards and so on.
